A mother. An artist. An author.

Writing Finding Light: A Mother’s Journey in India was one of the most personal and meaningful creative projects I have undertaken. The book was inspired by my desire for my sons to better understand and connect with their Indian heritage through stories, memories, traditions, and lived experiences gathered over many years.

India profoundly shaped both my artistic and personal perspective, and capturing those experiences authentically became an important part of the writing process. To help preserve the cultural depth and nuances within the story, I worked closely with an editor in India who understood the traditions, customs, and history far better than I ever could. Since I did not speak the local language, there were moments throughout the process when we were all doing our best to communicate across cultures, through translations, and with a fair amount of creative interpretation. Somehow, it all came together beautifully in the end.

Today, writing remains an important extension of my creative practice alongside photography and painting. Future projects may focus more heavily on visual storytelling through photography and art books that combine imagery, travel, texture, and narrative in a more immersive and personal way.
